Filmed on the 8th of November, 2021, at The Entrance on the NSW Central Coast, this work captures a moment when ordinary people found themselves standing at the edge of something they could not yet name.
2020 marked a rupture. Life, as it had been known, shifted rapidly. Institutions, trust, community rhythms—everything was tested. In the years that followed, we witnessed not only disruption, but a deep questioning of the systems that shape our lives.
The Central Coast has long been home to everyday Australians—teachers, nurses, carers, builders, cleaners—the quiet backbone of society. People who, for the most part, get on with things. “This’ll do me.”
But in this moment, even here, something stirred.
Public health mandates, economic pressure, and social division created an atmosphere of uncertainty. For some, it raised profound questions about autonomy, responsibility, and the future being shaped for the next generation. For others, it was a necessary collective response to a global crisis.
Between these tensions, a deeper story unfolds.
This film does not claim to have the answers. Instead, it bears witness—to a community grappling with fear, conviction, doubt, and the search for meaning in a time of upheaval.
Because beneath the arguments and the noise, there is something more human:
A longing to protect what is precious.
A desire to ensure that the world we leave behind is one our children can stand in with dignity.
Here, at The Entrance, people gathered, not as a monolith, but as individuals navigating an uncertain path.
Perhaps this is how change begins.
Not with certainty, but with the courage to ask:
What kind of world are we building?
And who are we becoming within it?
For the Children.
